You heard it here folks! I've given up the jeep *weeps quietly*
I've got a good deal on an 02 Chevy Impala that I couldn't pass up.

So much else to write about the good in life :)

    ...Moving...
WOW! I'm Alive...I've come back to LJ :):)

Sooo, after 5 years of being very comfortable in my humble abode (tiny apartment) in beautiful West Henrietta (which many claim is in the middle of nowhere) ***EDIT:  my girlfriend says "IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE", so it must be true!*** I've decided that I need a change of pace and new atmosphere. Oh, and yeah, I'm moving in with my girlfriend (hehehe) I'm going to get yelled at for not mentioning that that is the bigger reason why I'm moving :) *wink* love ya babe!

*ehem* so, yes, Courtney and I officially have our own place in B-E-A-Utiful Rustic VIllage Apartment (<-- points to link)
We are moving into a 2-bedroom place with our adorable little kitties *Pets Lucy who is on desk drinking water from a plastic container*

We are also going to need some help in moving *nudge nudge* Yes, this means you reading this *taps foot and crosses arms* :)
J/K, well, not about needing the needing help part of course ;) So, we're picking up the key a few days early to get a jump start on moving. (Wednesday Evening, Aug 29th)
I don't need to be moved out right away because my roomates are staying where they're at. Courtney on the other hand needs to be out by the last day of August. So, we were thinking, Wednesday evening timeframe all the way through Saturday evening (September 1st). We're mostly moving by cars and trucks and 1 day of a big van (Friday).  So the majority of help we'll need will be from Friday afternoon-Saturday afternoon.

We're looking for some people to help out when they can...We'll provide food and drink and entertainment  *denise will not be dancing however so don't worry* :) So, if you are reading this and are interested in picking up a few boxes to toss around, please let me know. That way I can count  you in and figure upon food, etc.

(P.S.  *ahem* if my memory serves me correctly, we've helped at least a few of you move... hint hint nudge nudge... just kidding!)
    O-tay! Back to packing! :)

    RALLY WITH HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS!!!!

"Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies in schools. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?"

    STEREO
I work currently for a subdivision of Corning located in Fairport...
The work there is related to precision optics with lenses and metrology  (measurement) equipment
They worked on some lens units back in 2002...
Currently those lens units are assembled on the STEREO Spacecraft aboard the Delta II Rocket for NASA that is being launched around 8:00PM tonight
STEREO will use stereoscopic vision  to construct a global picture of the sun and it's unfluences on the environment
I thought it was pretty damn cool :)

I was asked today to make a "sideways move" at work. I say sideways because I'm really just changing over to help out a department with product to get it out the door.
A lot of engineers have the attitude of being "above" working with their hands or "getting dirty"
I on the other hand, LOVE IT!
Overall, I think this will be good oportunity to get more visibility and gain more understanding of products, which can only help me in the long run if I stay there :)
I've been dying to understand more about products there and everyone I ask seems to never know of any "manual / folder / instructions / details/ etc"
You mean to tell me this shit gets done off the top of all your heads!!!??? *shakes head*
Bring in the process engineer :)

    Blessings Of The Day

    1) Having an awesome friend who uses the "blessings of the day" often...and since I'm feeling in a particularly good mood, I'm "borrowing" this idea from her :)
        Thx Jess!
    2) Currently listening to Madonna's Song "Jump" (Which I LOVE) From her newest Album "Confessions On A Dancefloor"
    3) Being greeted at 1:00 AM by a surprisingly active Hamster (Jessie) who seems happy to see me and a purring cat (Spooks), who missed me :)
    4) Plugging through a ton of numbers throughout the day on experiments at work and coming to some conclusions; nearing the end of something big
    5) Watching some great shorts films tonight at ImageOut and a great movie called "Coffee Date" which was exceptionally cute and heartwarming
    6) Today was National Coming Out Day...
    7) Remembering that around this time 3 years ago, I really was lost on "who I was" and nearing the beginning of my journey in "coming out"
    8) Having to go through those "tough times" to really understand who I am today, and appreciating them...
    9) Knowing that sometimes the most cherished times in a persons life are not the "grand / happy times" but instead the toughtest ones because they CAN be most appreciated
    10) Having a great girlfriend who I love very much and having that mutual feeling returned :) *I Love You*
    11) Heather Small's (Proud) and the song line "Realize That To Question Is How We Grow" and "What Have You Done Today To Make You Feel Proud?"
    12) Being fed free lunch on Thursdays at work (which is tomorrow) :)
    13) Being in the midst of a really good book at the moment
    14) Realizing today that I actually like my new wallet
    15) An awesome strawberry banana smoothie from Equal Grounds
    16) A somewhat clean room
    17) Knowing my snake is healthy because he shed his skin in one long complete piece tonight
    18) Remembering / being appreciative of Matt Shepard. His death brought to light just how serious a problem hate crimes and LGBT violence is in this country...
RIP ~ (10/12/98) *To Live In Hearts That Love Is Not To Die*
    19) A warm bed that is currently waiting for me...

    GOODNIGHT :)

    Another Liberal Solider
I found out on Sunday that a good friend of mine, a late co-worker of Redcom, and my golf buddy of 3 years, passed away last Wednesday...
He had brain cancer, a rare form that spread very quickly...Most likely the same kind that my cousin Shelly was diagnosed with that took her life when she was 24.
Tony, was in his late 50's to early 60's...He lived a good life, was well liked,  was smart and social...He was a very liberal man, very kind-hearted, wanted social justice, knew fluent Polish, and fought for peace amongst Indian Treaties...He always looked on the brightside of things and could shrug a shoulder like it was nothing when something work-related bothered him. He always had some kind of fun, political, anti-conservative slogans ("We Have A Friend In Cheeses", was my fav) around his cube and could always be found flicking someone the middle finger for a joke for no apparent reason after yelling their name to get their attention...Only to be returned the same gesture in the same kidding manner (For some, it was an everyday game between them and him I had noticed)...Even if it was thrown across the golf course to another fellow league member...I golfed with him for 3 years. We weren't the "avid" golfers of the league, but we always had a one over on the HR Manager for cheating his way through the league for most of those years...He was a mean bastard; a stuck-up one at that...But we always had a laugh when we both knew what he was really about...I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to my friend. I saw him a few times on his visits into work prior to his Chemo. He traveled to Duke University to be studied for the type of cancer he was diagnosed with and braved many operations with his head held high. I was let go from work in April, shortly after seeing him once more in work. I wasn't briefed on his faultering progress as time went on until a few weeks ago over beers at Happy Hour. I was told that it was a matter of time, that he was terminally ill and there was nothing they could do for him. The cancer kept returning despite the many operations and hours of chemo to try to remove the tumor. He was home and in good spirits, like most would find him during work...I wished I could have attended his services, but  heard the news on Sunday when I stumbled upon an old co-worker whom I realized attended the new chruch I''ve been going to. Another elder co-worker whom I wouldn't peg as being liberal, but seeings as he attends a Unitarian Church, there must be some liberal roots in him somewhere :) Tony will be donating his body to science and then he will be cremated after time...He was just awesome like that. I remember reading the back of his license once and seeing how he had marked wanting to be a donor. He was always one to give something to aid the common good of others...I miss him and I know he is in a better place...If I ever return to play at Victor Hills, it won't be without a thought or memory of our good times through the years :) RIP Friend! You Will Be Missed!

    JESUS CAMP
Courtney sent me a link today that was very disturbing to me...
It was for a movie called JESUS CAMP
    Movie Website
I guess I'm all for people believing in what they believe in. I don't think that I'm "RIGHT" or that I'm "WRONG"
I'm just me, and everyone is everyone else...We all share various different beliefs, and it can be great.
I don't believe there is a right or wrong way with religion...
However, this shit above scares me because it's EVANGELIZING...These kids are being BRAINWASHED to believe that people are either WITH THEM or AGAINST THEM...Just like George Bush says about terrorism...Read up on more links with various kids and such...I was quite disturbed...
Wasn't this country founded on freedom of religion and from religious prosecution....
What is the future going to bring with "revivers" such as these...

    Current Mood: scared
